Who We Are

Housed, Working and Healthy (HWH) is community focused 501(c)(3) organization located in central Denver, Colorado. We support individuals experiencing homelessness achieve self-sufficiency by providing employment training, mental health and housing navigation support. We believe every person can become housed, working, and healthy through holistic, long-term support. HWH works with local agencies that refer clients to our free, three-month culinary training program delivered in our commercial kitchen.

The Director of Development and Marketing

The Role

The Director of Development and Marketing serves as a dynamic and strategic leader overseeing the design and implementation of comprehensive fundraising strategies and impactful communication plans. As a relationship-centric role this person will contribute to our fun and authentic environment during a time of significant growth. This role’s focus will be on diversifying and growing HWH’s connections and support through inspiring content and expanded funding streams.

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Director of Development and Marketing is responsible for cultivating and leading a high-performing team while fostering a culture of philanthropy throughout the organization, furthering its mission. The ideal candidate will be committed to our organization's mission and values, with a 2026 organizational budget of $2.3M, of which $1.26M comes from fundraising.

Fundraising

  • Develop a comprehensive annual fundraising plan, inclusive of short and long term strategies and goals aligned with organizational objectives

  • Co-lead a $4.3M capital campaign, with direct responsibility for the $700k individual giving goal; will partner with the Executive Director on prospect strategy and donor engagement.

  • Provide thought-leadership to the Executive Director on grant prospecting and management

  • Cultivate, solicit and steward major corporate, foundation, and individual donors.

  • Plan and execute annual appreciation event, fundraising gala and donor recognition program.

  •  Provide leadership and direction as the staff liaison for the Board’s Development Committee

    and lead the Board of Director’s annual fundraising goals

  •  Execute individual giving campaigns throughout the year. 

  • Monitor, track and report on all donations, contributions, and fundraising progress (revenue and forecasting).

Communication/Engagement

  • Deliver clear and compelling content to donors, supporters, and potential supporters.

  • Work with vendors and staff to ensure branding and marketing is consistent for all outward

    facing communications of the agency.

  • Maintain web strategy and support website updates.

  • Use data to drive decisions for marketing strategies including donor engagement.

  • Cultivate stories and images to help reinforce the HWH mission and impact.

Supervision & Staff Development

  • Hire, orient and supervise Marketing contract staff to grow awareness and support fundraising

    goals.

Organizational Leadership

  • Serve as an active member of the leadership team.

  • Promote a positive culture, build relationships across the organization, initiate organizational

    improvements when appropriate, and actively promote the mission.

  • Oversee the creation and management of the development and communications budget.

  • Support the diversity, equity and inclusion efforts of the organization through marketing and

    communications materials.

Preferred Qualifications

  •  5+ years of experience in development and fundraising with a proven track record of achieving fundraising goals of $500k/year in individual giving.

  • Experience creating strategic fundraising plans that meet and exceed targets.

  •  Experience in soliciting corporate, foundation, and individual major gifts.

  • Well networked with a strong understanding of the Colorado fundraising landscape and funder

    priorities.

  • Experience facilitating a culture of giving guiding leadership, the board, program staff and

    donors in making connections with new donors and prospects.

  • Proven financial management and analytical skills, planning and managing budgets.

  • Knowledge of software and systems for both fundraising and communications including but not limited to: CRM systems, Bloomerang, Hootsuite, Wordpress and social media best practices.

What We Can Offer You

  • Hiring range of: $95,000 - $105,000

  • Hybrid scheduling up to 40% work-from-home / remote
